Why does one have to be better than the others? I am sure everyone has a preference. Quantifying things by their characteristics doesn’t necessarily mean one has to rank them.
Hard-boiled and whodunnits are the ones that do it for me!!!

right crime for me
I reflect I like Whodunit Mysteries the best, but anyone can have their confidential opinion. Applause for listing all the genres, I didn’t know all of them. Pleased Sleuthing!
They’re all fantastic, but I like romantic suspense, because generally you can count on a pleased ending. I read a book where they catch the terrible guy, but the excellent guy dies anyway, which bothered me, so I like to know the ending will not involve the detective being gunned down.
